Marrakech - I

Our magical carpet took us directly to the vibrant square Jema el Fnaa. I was starving and we sat at one of those tables amidst the fumes of kebab and chicken being grilled in the open air. We thought we were clever enough to find our riad hotel (a riad is a traditional house actually quite similar to typical Andalusian houses) in the medina. It was late at night and we got lost in this maze of little streets....

In the morning, we opened the wooden pannelled door of our bedroom giving onto a little berbère salon and ...

went downstairs to the patio where our breakfast was served : fresh orange juice, traditional Morroccan pancakes and bread, mint tea and coffee perfumed with cardomom…

And off we went into the busy traffic to explore the Red City...

well, this kind of traffic is very peaceful but the other side of the street is busy with trucks, buses, cars and taxis....Beware, when you take a petit taxi. They are more and more reluctant to switch the counter on and now have a fixed fare to go to certain places. So at the end of the day, it's nearly 15 euros gone into taxi rides. Never mind...I told Monchéri, at least we're helping someone to earn his living...
