Let's meet Kaki in Paris

I know...Andalucia is nice and sunny...no stress

(though stress could be good sometimes).

But at times, I do miss a little bit of movement and dear old Paris

See this street, rue Vieille-du-temple ?

it used to be my street

You are right in the Marais district near the Hôtel de Ville. A lively area which is altogether the Jewish traditional district, the gay district and the chic bohemian district.

this is it.... nº77...the door hasn't changed.

Would you like to meet my friend and former neighbor Kaki ?

You'll love her flat. Kaki is a brilliant designer. I stayed at her place last time I was in Paris, in february.

Kaki designs furniture, lamps and objects for major design companies. A former fashion designer, notably for Fiorucci, Kaki has an inborn talent to create amazing and extremely elegant home furniture and accessories.

But please, come in....Kaki wanted a typical 30's ambiance for her Parisian flat where black and white prevail in the main living room

table designed by Kaki for Modénature.
The chairs are her own design as well.
I was really happy the day she gave me two of them...

In the entrance, a console displays lamps, vases and objects designed by Kaki

like these obsidian vase and cup for Cub-ar.
(obsidian is a semi-precious volcanic rock which has a shiny black color)

Amazing light designed by Kaki for Modénature

A narrow entrance leads to the office

I love the reflect of the lacquered table top on the wall.
Kaki designed it for Modénature.
It is made of ebony and the top is lacquered.

Black and white painting by Michelle Auboiron

Kaki used chicken wire to create these poetic candle holders and jars.

Adjustable light with metal disk designed by Kaki and another work by Combas

Hi Lala,
What an amazing flat! - so sheek! Paris is a dreamy place, isn't it? - I went in 2003. I enjoyed your photos.

Warmly,
Susan

great urban space
Thank you for the tour inside Kaki's lovely Parisian apartment in the Marais District! Wonderful. I really love those striped drapes....the modern style is not my own choice, but I do appreciate the fabulous lines and the simplicity of shapes....as well as the uniqueness and whimsy (such as those chicken wire structures).

So very elegant, Lala.
So elegant and beautiful that I might be a little nervous and feel clumsy!
However, it was lovely to make a virtual visit.
