A Nazari feast in Salobreña

My lovely Moorish castle is waiting for the summer festival
to host medieval banquets and dances

But why wait for summer ?
Look what's going on below

The party already began

Salobreña celebrates its Moorish past

A little village has been recreated

Oh....salam to you

Will you join the merry dancers ?

Little shops await you

teapots, fabrics

the potter is happy

the children's art school

what's inside ?

the children's music room

the beauty shop

True blue

this is how I feel here

true blue happy

the story teller is accompanied by
the flute player

Oh...yes please protect me

I'm in danger of falling in love
with the whole thing
and stay here all summer !

Lala,

The sun always seems to shine in Spain. So many happy-looking people...the streets are alive~!

You are gorgeous....your dress is beautiful with its lace hem, and I like how you've accesorized with the matching necklace with the blue stones...

And what a charming little girl with you....

You look so very content and pleased...life is good...Bless you!

Hi

Is this Spain or Morocco?!

so great they still connect to that incredible past - just to think that not so long ago, the slightest whiff of islam would have brought down he inquisition's hounds in a nanosecond!

How exotic! I'm pretty sure King Ferdinand and his Queen would be so mad if they knew this is gonna happen so many centuries later! They launched a seemingly successful Reconquista, yet they couldn't erase the deep-rooted Moorish culture and influence from their peoples!

So sorry I missed this village while we were in Andalucia in March!!!! We were there for about a month, but mostly at Sanlúcar because a friend of mine is renting a casa there for a year.

The last week we drove around a lot and since we were flying home from Malaga, we did stay the 2 last nights in Nerja. One of the days we did drive the road ALMOST all the way to Salobreña! Bah! what a pity that we turned around just before Salobreña!!!

So, we were close to you then :-)

Warmth welcome to Lifecruiser Travel Blog

(If you take a look in my sidebar under the subject "Recent cruises" you can find some of my posts from when we were in Spain)
