Of white cotton and lace

I grew up watching my mother cutting and sewing little dresses in white embroidered cotton for my two sisters and I. On my first trip to Madagascar, when I was a child, I met my aunts and a myriad of cousins who sewed beautifully and patiently embroidered cotton napkins, tablecloths and sheets. Certainly, I inherited the sewing gene. Sewing calms me down and brings me peace. I started a small series of white and cream indoors clothes for my own pleasure, with the intention to hopefully market it some day, but in the meantime, they quietly rest in my bedroom, waiting to be worn on a lazy summer day.

ps : I would like to give a big THANK YOU to Karina of colorful design and fashion blog El Beso, for featuring one of my bags....

you can make your own!

Vintage lace of one of life's simple pleasures! Very interesting that you are a professional translator; how did you get started in that buisiness?

These are exquisite! You are SO talented! I LOVE the little flowers!

I took some photos in a shop of a white dress you would admire, that same feminine theme. But yours is much prettier.

I would love to own one of your designs someday.

Those embroideries are divine! White on white, that's just perfect.
They are very delicate and I love the way they flow...and the pretty lace rosettes, and the pretty embroidery. I can imagine how satisfying it was to create those designs....and how wonderful it would feel to wear them on warm, lazy days. They are beautiful.

Lala, how do you get your photo to look so soft and pure? These images are lovely. I envy you your ability to sew and create such sweet and pretty garments. My mother is a very good seamstress, as is yours. Lucky you to inherit the sewing gene....

Hi, Lala,

This is Sloane from Books I Love In A Cozy Spot. Thank you for commenting on my blog. I love your pretty pictures of the clothes and all the pretty cloth. My Momma said you sewed it. I think it would be really great to be able to sew like that. I like the name of your blog a lot. I'm wondering what your name means? I hope you have a great week and that you visit me soon. ~ Sloane
