Pink it up...pop it up baby.....

Think pink.... burn the blue..... bury the beige !

If you're an Audrey Hepburn fan, you surely recognize this cue from the opening song in Funny Face. We're enjoying a long holiday week-end here and although the Andalusian sky is still grey and grumpy, I feel quite chirpy and ready for a pink holiday. This is so curious as I swore to be totally uninterested by the quick-it's Christmas-let's decorate attitude. And then, last saturday, some friends came for tea. I made a chocolate cake, bought some pink wrapped sweets and pink cava, the Spanish version of champagne. And the holiday mood hit me and showed me the pinky way....

Do you remember a few years ago when black was de rigueur for Christmas decorations ? well, it was happening in France anyway. You could see black Christmas trees, black Baccarat glasses, black crystal chandeliers, ideas to elaborate a black sophisticated menu in every single decoration magazine. Very elegant indeed but a bit....gloomy isn't it ?

This morning I was leafing through a November issue of the French Elle and was delighted to read an article about film maker Jacques Demy whose work has been entirely compiled into a DVD. I'm a die hard fan of his movies especially Les demoiselles de Rochefort with Catherine Deneuve and her sister Françoise Dorléac. I just love the happy vibrant colours Demy used in this movie. In the picture below, Catherine and Françoise are singing their little number Nous sommes deux soeurs jumelles dressed in a simple white dress lined with a very tonic shade of lemon or pink. Exactly the kind of dress, I would love to wear for New Year's Eve ! And with the hat...of course...

this picture from the set of les demoiselles de Rochefort acts like vitamin C to me !

and because, I love this movie so much, I just had to post two videos where both sisters are singing and dancing....Hope you'll enjoy them and wish you a lighthearted start of the week !

Why all of a sudden am I channeling Edith Piaf and singing La Vie en Rose?

What a flash back. I know every word of the demoiselles de rochefort song, down to the laugh at the end. I must have rehearsed it a million times in front of my mirror as a child. Delightful trip to memory lane.

The dresses are brilliant and remind me of long tennis dresses. You need to be thin like you to wear one, so go for it!!! xoxo

Hahaha! I've just posted about my xmas decorations and this year I've chosen white, black and silver! I guess if there is a lot of black it might be gloomy, but mine is mostly white and silver with a touch of black for, well, elegance! (Love the pink, though!)

Let there be PINK!

I your pink party...con los chocolates envuelto (sp?) en rosado.

The party dresses are gorgeous and the video was sweet. I hope you get to wear something fun like that on New Year's Eve. Post pics, Chica!

A seriously girly post! Rose colored glasses, and now I want some chocolate.
Forget about Audrey. I'm still thinking about 'El Turroncillo'. :-D

Greetings from London.
