Memories of an Andalusian child

...The other day I was talking to a shop owner in the main street of the village, pointing his finger to the street, he said :

"you see this street here ? 40 years ago when I was a little kid....in its place, there was just a dirt road and every morning the panadero would pass by with his mule loaded with sacks of bread, and my mother would give me a 5 pesetas coin to buy a loaf a bread...."
Of course, today, one can hardly imagine this scene.....today, the panadero stops by in his white tiny van and blows the horn to make his presence known.
40 years ago, people here worked mainly in the field, grew their own vegetables, collected almonds and oranges and produced olive oil. I like the idea that today, we're slowly going back to this......

your post today reminded me of where my father is from in Greece. He lived in a small village in a valley. My grandparents have the farm where they grow their food and animals. Life is simple but enjoyable with plenty of memories that my father retells. I love going there to visit and take a break from the world we live in today where we forget these simple joys.

such a nice post : )

I agree entirely with the thoughts of going backwards. In hard times one rediscovers the simplicity of being. In Ireland, because of the ecomonic situation, tradional music, that disappeared in the affluent days, is once more to be heard regularly in bars.

Life has sped up... Thanks for the trip back in time.
The world would be a better place overall if things would slow down and become more simple...that's my opinion. Lovely story, and lovely photos...make me want to walk into that place of peace and simplicity and stay a while.
