My whimsical advent calendar.....

I had to laugh at myself...Where is the girl saying to her dubious boyfriend : I don't feel like decorating for Christmas, I don't feel like celebrating Christmas...come on let's go to Tangers and get lost in the medina !". Well, since then I completely changed my mind and am now converted into a fervent Christmasaholic person. I even started an advent calendar for the first time in my life. I guess, I'll blame it on my elder sister. She loves Christmas traditions and prepares an advent calendar every year with her kids. I don't know whether she'll like mine though. Again, it might not be very practical ! You see my calendar is a series of little boxes, so you can't really hang it somewhere.

Each little box is festive in its own way and contains a little surprise. Dec 1st is about being a child again and reads the lines of a poem recited at the beginning of one of my favorite Wim Wenders movies Wings of desire : als das kind kind war, fragtete er warum bin ich, warum bist du du ? (sorry to bore you with the German text but I just love it ! when the child was a child, he asked why are you you ? and why am I, I ?). Actually I wrote the lines in French.

Dec 2nd gently says Hello, Christmas is on its way....Wish you a golden day

Dec 3rd reminds you to have a heart and be passionate

Dec 4th whispers Come on baby, time to fill your fridge with some bubbly drinks

Dec 5th, oh...no...you start panicking, planning dinners and tea parties and you broke a plate

Dec 6th.... you have guests and feel like wearing gold and pearls

Dec 7th....you think you deserve a medal for being calm and carry on working, decorating, baking, doing the laundry, dusting, preparing a list of movies to watch during the holiday, shouting at your other half for not being cooperative enough

Dec 8th...shit you broke another plate

Dec 9th.....you've been a good girl...you entirely deserve a Monchéri
