A perfect Andalusian night on the roof terrace

Sometimes life is very generous....that's what I felt last friday night when Spanish friends came over for dinner.

As we were nibbling on our tomato tartetelettes and sipping pink cava (the Spanish equivalent of champagne) on the roof terrace, the moon happily joined us...a big bright full moon...

And soon after that fireworks burst out in the sky.....it was the village fiesta and it seemed such a perfect timing for the dinner party....and we all shouted oh que fantastico...gracias !!

That night, I told my friends : so sad to think this may be our last dinner on the roof terrace. Oh but you can't say that to a Spanish person ! they said....we, Spanish never say it's the last one...we always say it's the one before the last.....la penultima...

I like this wisdom.

...'la penultima'...I like that too.

But now we are curious as to why...is there a move in your future? Whatever the reason, blessings to you and your love as the summer days begin to wane. I imagine that you, like we here in Southern California, still have many weeks of summer weather before the coolness of autumn takes over.

Aw, the last days of summer are always bittersweet. Though I adore Fall I do not look forward to the winter. Your dinner sounds lovely and the fireworks were fantastic I'm sure.
