Loving this little fleamarket café at the Sandpit Club last week end

Last saturday, some friends organized a little fleamarket and

Monchéri and I helped our friend Roger to run a small café

outside the Sandpit Club (my friend Gym's gallery loft).

When I arrived, my French friend Pascale was already in the

kitchen making pasta salad. The night before, I made some financiers

and orange and almond cake. Between laughs and lots of talking,

we eventually produced a rice salad and then I went to pick up some flowers

to put on the tables.

Samedi dernier, des copains ont organisé un petit marché artisanal

et Monchéri et moi avons donné un coup de main à notre ami Roger,

pour tenir un petit café à l'extérieur du Sandpit Club (le loft galerie de mon amie Gym).

Quand je suis arrivée, mon amie Pascale est déjà en train de faire une

salade de pâtes. La veille, j'avais préparé des financiers et des gâteaux à 

l'orange et aux amandes. Entre les rires et beaucoup de parlote, on réussit

à faire une salade de riz et puis je suis allée cueillir des fleurs pour mettre sur les tables.

We left Monchéri at the bar downstairs - that is, he was in charge of the bar.

In fact he will be the busiest of us all.

On a laissé Monchéri au bar, en bas - c'est-à-dire qu'il est chargé du bar.

En fait, de nous 4 ce sera lui le plus occupé.

 

It's a shame I didn't have time to take more pics of the stalls, 

especially the one selling a wonderful bread baked in a wood burning oven,

not far from where I live.

C'est dommage mais je n'ai pas eu le temps de prendre plus de photos des stands,

en particulier celui où on vendait un pain merveilleux cuit dans un four à bois,

pas très loin de chez moi.

As the sun was too hot, I thought why not put the tables under the orange trees...

quite romantic, non ?

Comme le soleil tapait trop fort, j'ai pensé qu'on pourrait placer des tables

sous les orangers...c'est plutôt romantique, non ?

 

 

The ambiance was cool and simpatico, delightfully laid back.

And after the effort, so nice to have a gin tonic !

L'ambiance était cool et simpatico, délicieusement relax.

Et après l'effort, quel bonheur de boire un gin tonic !

We're only in May and it already feels like summer

On est seulement en mai et on se croirait déjà en été

Around 6 o'clock everyboy was gone and it was time to fold the little

pop up café....until next time I hope !

À 6h tout le monde est parti et il ne reste plus qu'à plier le petit

café éphémère...jusqu'à la prochaine fois j'espère !
