Feria, fiesta....time to dance baby !

the Granada feria, el Corpus Christi
is starting next month...olé!

Little casetas (little cabins) will be
set up in the streets

If you have the honour of being invited
to one of them
for a glass of vino tinto (red wine)
then you will have to look your best
and wear the traditional flamenco dress,
don your hair up, add some necklaces
and earrings...

And here you go...

Ready to dance the sevillana ?

But we need to find a dress first....

Mmmm...don't know about the purple

Too small...don't be ridiculous

Black and white may be ?

If you think they're too expensive,
you can always find nice second hand ones
on the market

Yeah I'd rather go for yellow

Actually I made myself a dress
many years ago

well ...more to dance the salsa

but still, it could do.....

Monchéri says we have to parade
in the streets on horseback,
so we now have to find a horse

(i think he's kidding)

Those are some very colorful dresses....I love all those flounces! But I think your dress is the classiest one of the bunch. Will you be dancing in the streets? It seems they know how to party there!

Lala, cuando era pequeña en España, yo bailaba flamenco con las otras niñas. Me as echo revivir un bello tiempo. Andale, comprate un bestido amarillo, busca un caballo, y ale!

ohohooh..
they look so girly
that i can hardly stop looking
at them!

:-)

i would want to buy them
and hang them in my windows
for the light to come through...
for the wind to dance...

that last one,
that is the one i would wear
and
yes,
ride that horse through town!
YES!

(is that yours?
you go girl!
good taste! )

Lala, you have a gift; for storytelling...I love how you string photos and text together, to tell a story, an invitation, and capture our interest to read on and on to the end. You must be a wonderful hostess!

oh very colourful! i can feel the atmosphere of the fiesta! :)

Actually I'd love to see the festival of Semana Santa. With the parade of those hooded masked men amidst the strong religious atmosphere, it gives me a chill yet awe-inspiring feeling.

Oooo... I want to come for a visit. You represent your city well and make us all envy you and long for a visit. I am so glad that you are my hostess for our virtual visits. Have fun dancing. I hope he isn't kidding about the horse. A beautiful dress, lots of dancing, a modern knight and a horse. What could be better for a woman with a castle in Spain?

those colours are intoxicating! fiestas in spain are like entering into dreamland where the laughter, dancing, eating and drinking with friends and family goes non stop for days. only it's a sweet reality... enjoy the preparations...

So, why not, a flaming hot Andalucian horse with a long fairytale-alike mane... *sigh of admiration*

Though sitting in a lady saddle isn't that easy... *giggles*

We saw almost all the caballeros (at least it felt like that) in the Romeria San José on their way to the church in El Rocio, such an special experience!!!

Those dresses are really something extra, even though some of the color combinations don't suit me.

We were hoping to catch some Flamenco dancers, but sadly we didn't....
